Our
favorite itinerary
(3
Days)
Day
1 - Discovering the Urban Landscape: We will go visit the
Basilica of St. Mark and the Doge's palace where you will
approach the monumental side of Venice: here is what travellers
used to see first once in Venice, and here the Serenissima
wanted to impress them with grand monuments. This was the center
for politics, culture and religion.
Leaving
the crowded streets behind you'll discover ancient Venice which
hides real art treasures. We will suggest the most romantic
itinerary and help you find the secret calli, selecting the most
beautiful churches and palaces to see.
We
will help you to grasp the feeling of Venetian Architecture with
a surprising succession of the most imposing and romantic
perspectives in town. We'll end the day in a wonderful, secret
garden.
Day
2 - Discovering Venetian Art: We'll introduce you to the
masterpieces of the Great Painters like Carpaccio, Bellini,
Veronese, Tiziano, Tintoretto, Tiepolo. You will learn about the
differences between paintings with religious subjects and
paintings with profane themes, like mythology or historic
scenes; or know Venetian portraits throughout the centuries.
We
will help you discover the wonderful masterpieces of Venetian
painting, and you will discover the atmosphere of a humanistic
Studio, like in the School of San Giorgio dei Greci, or that of
a Magnificent Renaissance Complex like the School of San Rocco.
In
the end you will know why Venice developed the School of Color
in contrast with the classical School of Drawing in Florence and
Rome, and its many other original contributions to the history
of art.
Day
3 - Discovering the lagoon and its islands: You can visualize
the old Venetian territorial dimension, made up by water and
land, and grasp the original meaning of "living in the
lagoon". We'll help you to understand the isolation of
Venice before the bridge to the mainland was built and take you
on a forgotten pre-bridge journey to the city that few
modern-day visitors get to experience.
Murano
with its glass factories and ancient cathedral, Burano with its
Lace Art and the XVIII Century village, Mazorbo with its villas
and Torcello with its ruins and the VI Century Baptistery will
show the most fascinating aspect of the Venetian atmosphere.
You
will choose a nice trattoria for lunch on Burano and find an
elegant and charming restaurant for dinner in Venice where you
can choose to taste some of the most characteristic dishes in
the Venetian cuisine, to discuss your unique Venetian
experience.
