One of the most captivating phenomena of Venice are the musicians and artists which it produced. Vivaldi, Albinoni, Monteverdi, and Galuppi as well as Tintoretto, Carpaccio, Tiziano, Tiepolo, Canaletto, and Guardi, all filled Venice with spectacular creations for eyes and ears to behold. Admire the masterpieces of painters in their original place or in the city museums. Along with visits to works found in churches, your adventure can include stops at the Quadreria of the Correr Museum, or to the Academia of Fine Arts. In this tour, you'll learn the characteristics of lavish Venetian Style. You can suggest your favorite artist and we'll help you to see his most fascinating works, visiting churches or buildings where you can still find the atmosphere of a humanistic Studio, like in the School of San Giorgio dei Greci, or that of a Magnificent Renaissance Complex like the School of San Rocco. If you like music, you are in for a big treat. You will understand why Venetian music developed unique features which made it different from any other Italian and European school. Visit the Conservatory Benedetto Marcello, Vivaldi's Church of the Pieta, the Church of the Ospedaletto, passing through the area of La Fenice Theater and by the houses where the opera composer Cimarosa and the great Mozart lived. The most passionate about ancient music may also pay a visit to the Levi Foundation, the most relevant archive of Ancient Music in Venice, to get information about their favorite studies. Meet an artisan who builds ancient Venetian harpsichords and visit the music shop of Cristiano Nalesso specialized in classical Venetian renaissance, pre-baroque and baroque music and Opera, where you can find rare first recordings. Your tour would not be complete without a sampling of the finest concerts available during your stay, such as an evening concert in S. Rocco, or, depending on the season, opera at the Pala Fenice.

Seminars

In addition to the mini-courses offered on an individual basis, Venice à la Carte also offers a program of seminars throughout the year which focus on a specific topic.

The idea of the seminar is to give our members an opportunity to return to Venice and experience a particular aspect of the Venetian culture or environment, together with other members.

Seminars start on the first Saturday of the month, at 9:00 am, and end around 5:00 PM.
